The weather cooperated (no rain), although cool, with partly cloudy skies for the six doubles teams competing in the first annual Food Bank Tournament to benefit the Sunriver Care & Share. The first round of play divided the winners into the champion (championnat) bracket and the others into the consolation (consolante) bracket. After two more rounds, the team of Paul Brennen and Neil Martin won the championnat and Dennis Dishaw and Jim Schonlau won the consolante. A sumptuous potluck lunch was enjoyed prior to the final round.

A shooting contest followed the final round and the awarding of prizes. Contestants paid an entry fee of $5.00 to enter the contest. The object was to hit a single boule placed six meters from the throwing circle. Each player had two chances. If you hit the boule, you advanced to the next round where the single boule was placed seven meters for the circle. The distance from the circle increased until only one player remained. There was a twist, however. If you missed the boule with both shots, you were out. However, you could still advance to the next round by paying another five dollars. This turned out to be a popular option. In the end, Jim Schonlau was the winner, once again, at nine meters. A total of $70 was collected for the Sunriver Care & Share food bank.
The collection of non-perishable food items was also a success. Donations included three cases of chili and about 35 cans of various foods, plus other non-perishable items.
