Most members of the worldwide petanque community are familiar with the famous Peanuts cartoon featuring Snoopy, the World War I flying ace, created by Charles Schulz in January 1994. But, the story behind the cartoon has previously not been told. The story is told by members of the Bay Area petanque club that introduced Mr. Shulz to petanque on pages 7 – 9 of the Federation of Petanque USA newsletter for winter-spring 2024.
